The Playstation 5 popularly known as PS5 is a next-gen PlayStation console, and it has been set to release later in 2020. No one expected Sony to release a PS5 Digital Edition, but we have that now. In the presentation from Sony during the “The Future of Gaming Event” which was held on June 11, the design of the PS5 was revealed for the whole world to see. Some of the games announced by Sony that will be released with the Ps5 include Horizon Forbidden West, NBA 2K21, and the remake of Demon’s Souls.

The PS5 is a next-gen console that will have ray-tracing, an inbuilt 4K Blu-ray player. It might come with voice assistant capabilities that will tell you how long you will use to beat game levels. It will come with an AMD Zen 2-based CPU that has 8 cores at 3.5GHz, 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and a customary RDNA 2 AMD GPU with 10.28 TFLOPs of processing power. These are cool specs for the next-gen console.

PS5 Digital Edition

The design presented by Sony for the PS5 came as a surprise. But we had a bigger surprise which was the fact that they included a Digital Edition for the PS5. The Digital Edition is a streamlined, digital-only console that comes without the disc drive included.

Sony did not reveal the price or the release date for the console, so we cannot really talk about the prices for both editions of the consoles. One thing we are positive about is that the lack of disc drive for the Digital Edition is for customers who want the functionality of the PS5 but prefer their games digitally. This might reduce the price of the PS5 Digital Edition by a substantial amount. Guess we have to wait to see what Sony has to offer later this year when they officially announce the price of the PS5.
